Brigid Cruise

"Brigid Cruise" was written by the blind Irish composer Turlough O'Carolan for his first love. Brigid Cruise was the daughter of the schoolmaster at the special school attended by Carolan in Cruisetown, Ireland. An arranged marriage eventually saw Brigid marry another, but Carolan's feelings for her are commemorated in this timeless melody as well as many others.

It was cellist Patrick Dexter's honour to play "Brigid Cruise" during Shades Of Green 2021, a virtual St. Patrick's Day performance for the Irish Embassy in the USA whose guests included Irish Taoiseach Micháel Martin and US President Joe Biden. Patrick here performs the piece outside his home in idyllic County Mayo.
