MOTHER & SON(S)

Call for Feature Film Story Ideas

Mother and Son: a special bond which may be tested but never broken.

County Hall Arts is pleased to announce its latest call for feature film story ideas. These ideas will be assessed for potential development into a screenplay to be produced as a major feature film.

Ideas must be focused on and inspired by the theme of “Mother & Son(s)”. We’re seeking emotionally involving, human and humane stories of hope and truth with the power to touch millions.

Iconic directors including Spielberg, Ozu and Truffaut have been moved to tell stories centred on the relationship between a mother and her son(s) inspired by their own experiences and inspired by the power of cinema to share timeless stories.

Meanwhile renowned filmmakers Jane Campion, Andrea Arnold and Sofia Coppola are all mothers themselves.

In the first instance, CHA would like to receive story outlines of up to 2 pages (max. 1,250 words) responding the theme of “Mother & Son(s)”.

This call is open to established writers, newcomers and those in between. We’re looking for writing which moves, entertains and informs with a distinctive voice.

The idea which is ultimately chosen to progress will be awarded a development budget of up to €100,000 to fund writing fees and other development costs. The selected writer will be supported by CHA’s filmmaking team.

Please submit your ideas via the Online Submission Form below after first reading the Terms and Conditions.

Good luck — we look forward to reading your work!
