County Hall Arts is delighted to support the debut performance of acclaimed fortepianist Naruhiko Kawaguchi in Madrid.

Naruhiko is a prizewinner in numerous competitions the world over, including the 1st Warsaw International Chopin Competition on Historical Instruments, the International Competition Musica Antiqua Bruges and the 1st Rome Fortepiano International Competition (Premio Muzio Clementi), to name but a few.

The recital will take place at the historic Ateneo de Madrid, a private cultural institution founded in 1835.

A great lover of Spanish music, Naruhiko will perform pieces by Arriaga and Granados in addition to well-known works of early Romanticism, Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin included.

Originally from Yokohama in Japan, Naruhiko has recorded, among others, works by Dussek, Schubert, and Bartok. Naruhiko Kawaguchi has performed with such groups as the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century (or the "Orkiestra Historyczna”), and in places such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, or the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona.
