“RIVERSIDE VIEWS” - LANDSCAPE PAINTING

A County Hall Arts Competition

**Deadline extended to 31st October 2021**

The River Thames has provided inspiration for renowned landscape painters over centuries - from Monet to Turner to Constable.

Inspired by their timeless artworks, County Hall Arts is delighted to announce ‘Riverside Views’ - its Competition for Fine Paintings.

Professionals, amateurs and hobbyists are invited to submit landscape vistas painted from the Southbank of the River Thames - specifically as viewed from outside London County Hall between Westminster Bridge and Jubilee Gardens.

A panel of judges will select up to 15 finalists from the submitted paintings who will exhibit their work at London County Hall - and be the subject of a 'behind-the-scenes’ documentary following their work, the exhibition and conclusion of the competition.

The winner will then be selected and a prize of £10,000 awarded - with 2 runners-up prizes of £1,000.

The competition is open for entries from the 9th August 2021 through to 31th October 2021 - with the Exhibition provisionally scheduled for December 2021.

Landscape painting gives artists an opportunity not just to express the visual truth of the world around them, but also its emotional and psychological truth. This is why we want to see a particular London scene through someone else's eyes…yours.

We're searching for artists who will rise to the challenge of following in the tradition of the great artists mentioned above and create work that celebrates the fabulous, iconic Thames in a fresh and contemporary way, finding modern, surprising, individual and diverse perspectives on these familiar scenes and vistas.

The judges will initially view submissions on a screen, so make sure your photo does your painting justice and conveys as much of its impact as possible. In addition, we ask all entrants to submit a photo of themselves painting on the Southbank.

Good luck!
