“RIVERSIDE VIEWS” - A COUNTY HALL ARTS EXHIBITION

Friday 25 March - Friday 8 April 2022

County Hall Arts is delighted to present “Riverside Views” - an Exhibition of Landscape Paintings showcasing contemporary views from the South Bank of the River Thames.

The Thames has provided inspiration for renowned landscape painters over centuries - from Monet to Turner to Constable.

Inspired by their timeless artworks, County Hall Arts invited professionals, amateurs and hobbyists alike to submit landscape vistas painted from the South Bank to the “Riverside Views” Competition.

Selected from these entries, the 16 Artists participating in this Exhibition returned to the practice of painting en plein-air (specifically positioned outside London County Hall between Westminster Bridge and Jubilee Gardens) during August, September and October 2021

The works displayed give a chance to reflect on the significance of contemporary artists communicating through landscape painting - and the fascination the study of light and shadows, and their reflection on water, still holds on viewers. Each artist interacted with this tradition, presenting an individual and diverse perspective on these familiar scenes across the river.

Furthermore, the “Riverside Views” Exhibition is an invitation to discover County Hall Arts as well as a celebration of the history of the County Hall building and its relationship to the iconic River Thames.

Ultimately an entry to the “Riverside Views” Competition will be awarded a prize of £10,000 (with 2 runners-up receiving £1,000).
