County Hall Arts is delighted to announce the culmination of the Riverside Views competition. Launched in 2021, the competition invited professionals, amateurs and hobbyists alike to submit landscape vistas painted from London's South Bank. Later, in March 2022, 16 artists were selected from the entries and their work showcased in County Hall Arts' Riverside Views Exhibition. This celebration of the iconic River Thames and County Hall’s sturdy presence at its side offered an occasion for visitors to discover County Hall Arts and the work of the painters it is proud to champion.
County Hall Arts is equally proud to announce Yasemin Gava as the winner of our first Riverside Views competition. Yasemin is a London-based artist who is passionate about art in all its forms. She has worked on many projects in the field of art, theatre, heritage and education. She also volunteers as a project manager with the organization Art for Refugees. Her painting Tempestuous Sky particularly stood out for the very personal and delicate lens through which she re-imagined such a familiar view.
A comment from the artist herself: “It was an honour to be a part of the Riverside Views competition and I am so excited to have been awarded the First Prize. I am grateful to County Hall Arts for their encouragement and for granting me the opportunity to grow as an artist. I feel immensely privileged to be in this position and I am really looking forward to what the future holds.”
The Runners-Up Prizes have been awarded to the artists Yinwing Lam and Jonathan Parker. Congratulations to our three winners and to the rest of the participants.
