A History of Yatai

The wheels speak to a sense of mobility, but the name yatai literally means "shop-stand" and herein lies the beautiful duality of the design. These "mobile restaurants" can be wheeled to a location and set up within moments along with counter tops, tables and chairs and the capability to serve freshly cooked food. Originating in Japan in the early 1600s, they have since conquered the world.
